Barbour is an authentic British brand providing a wardrobe of clothes for men and women especially designed for country living. The clothes maintain the core values of its heritage, durability, fitness for purpose and attention to detail. Now over 100 years old, Barbour is a 4th generation family owned company who have developed a unique understanding of clothing that is truly fit for the country lifestyle.
Barbour started in 1984 when John Barbour opened J Barbour & Sons in the town of South Shields. The shop was dedicated to products loosely described as drapery including outerwear, boiler suits, painter’s jackets and underwear. The shop thrived and was especially popular amongst ship owners and seamen for its oilskin coats and jackets.
Today, popular designs include their iconic lightweight and wax jackets and the infamous International jacket. This SS08, the menswear collection sees lightweight fabrics inspire jackets fashioned for easy wearability, complemented by new colourful and stylish casual shirts and knitwear. Waxed silk makes a triumphant return to the Barbour ladies collection. Originally developed in the 1920’s, the soft and luxuriously elegant material provides the lightest drape and the most durable protection from the weather.
