Indian Rose
Sofia Coppola in Marie Antoinette inspires the latest collection from Indian Rose, reflecting her vibrant personality, romantic spirit and eccentric style. SS08 follows through the life of the heroine and uses the different eras as a basis for the three themes of the collection.
The first theme takes place at the regal court of Versailles; the range features subtle embellishments elegantly styled with intricate floral elements, reflecting Marie Antoinette’s taste for simplicity and grace. The neo-classic style introduced by the muse is evident in the pale green and dusted blue pieces with modern gold trimmings. The essential pieces are the Parisienne floral halter neck, the Frou Frou rouched waisted shirt and the Compact gold & cream patterned shorts.
In her personal life, Marie Antoinette was accustomed to a luxurious environment in her palace in Schonbrun which she then recreated in her private apartments in Versailles. This set inspires the second Indian Rose range, which sees coral, pink, metallic gold and floral pieces dominate the collection reflecting her desire for the finer things in life. Key pieces featured are the Ired gold jacket, Luise yellow shirt dress and the Daphne floral skirt.
This final range has a very rebellious punk feel to it; from the harsh shapes and bold prints to the colour palette of hot pink, fuscia, jet black and plum, Marie Antoinette’s darkest days are reflected in the fire of the selection. The range includes the Josette pink smock dress, the Christelle black hot pants and the Liliane plum bodysuit- punk is back.
As always, the Indian Rose denim has excelled itself. New styles have been introduced this season including the wide leg 60’s Mandragola, the Ferzene straight cut and the Lake double pocket boot cut. Alongside the new denims are the classic best selling straight leg Morano and the boot cut Super-Lows, which again are the hit of the season.
